Integrated Pest Management (IPM) – Scott Freedman

What is eating my garden? What are those spots on the leaves? What is that black stuff on my tree bark? Become an expert in identifying the damage done by insects and other diseases which impact gardens on Coastal Delaware. Once you identify the culprits then use IPM to eliminate them.

“Integrated Pest Management (IPM) is an effective and environmentally sensitive approach to pest management that relies on a combination of common-sense practices. IPM programs use current, comprehensive information on the life cycles of pests and their interaction with the environment. This information, in combination with available pest control methods, is used to manage pest damage by the most economical means, and with the least possible hazard to people, property, and the environment” according to the EPA.

Scott has a BS in Urban Forestry from The Pennsylvania State University. His work experience includes working in the tree care industry as an ISA Certified Arborist, construction administrator with a natural resources’ preservation company, manager of a commercial landscape maintenance company, and most recently as the grounds and plant health care specialist at Mt Cuba Center.
