Create Your Own Rain Garden – Karen Wilkens Saturday, April 6 10 am – 12 pm $10
What is a rain garden? A rain garden is a landscaped, shallow, depression that
captures and absorbs rainwater before it leaves your property. Rain gardens can
purify and beautify your landscape while at the same time perhaps reduce your
water bills. Learn how to select a location, make a plan, select plants, construct,
and maintain a rain garden.
Karen became a Master Gardener in 2003 in California. She experienced gardening
in Texas for 20+ years before moving to Delaware in 2015. Living in these areas has
afforded her hands-on experience in rain gardens. All these locations have different
soils and amounts of rainfall. What they have in common is a need to capture
rainwater and rain gardens are one way to fill that need.
