Seasonal Gardening with Native Plants (for the Little Ones: Bees, Butterflies, Moths and More) Beth Sheppard, Agricultural Outreach, Lower Shore Land Trust Saturday, June 1 10 am – 12 pm

Many of us are gung-ho during the Spring and Summer planting tried and true perennials that will bring hummingbirds and butterflies into our garden. However, they are not the only pollinators and there are other seasons. We often focus on the loudest, showiest performers but there is much to learn about the value of native perennials, shrubs and trees as powerful providers of food, nectar, and safe havens throughout the seasons. Beth will highlight a variety of species of local plants and their transitional role supporting lesser-known solidary bees, wasps, and moths.

Participants in this workshop will receive a 10% discount on any plants they purchase the day of the workshop.

Beth Sheppard, an environmental professional returned to Worcester County after 25 years operating a landscape company in Wilmington, North Carolina. There she specialized in perennials, trees, and unique projects with a focus on “No Grass Gardens”. She has a master’s degree from University of NC Wilmington and is a certified Chesapeake Bay Landscape Professional. Pollinators are her passion!
